One of the oldest traditions in Hawaii is the giving and exchanging of a lei. Whether it be a fragrant lei (flower or fauna), or a non perishable lei (seed, shell, feather, paper, ribbon or etc.) it is an expression of one's
"ALOHA" (love, caring, kindness) for that special person.
Today, leis are incorporated into a wedding or vow-renewal ceremony because of their circular shape having no beginning or end, signify the continuation of true and abiding love. Leis may be exchanged between a couple, their families and friends.
Although not all of the fragrant leis will remain fresh, one must remember that the thoughts which accompany each lei as a gift, are tokens of love, a truly Hawaiian custom.
